My Interview with PussyCat Publishing

I just did a written interview for PussyCat Publishing, a book publisher in NYC who is doing some kind of book on Porn Star Opinions. I'm not sure if it will actually be published or not, so I'm including it here.

Enjoy,
- Maddy

MARCH 31, INTERVIEW WITH MARIE MADISON
Q: In your opinion, what is the secret to becoming successful as an adult movie star?

A: The number one rule in my book, is don’t ever forget that you are an entertainer. These films we make, are to arouse people, and amuse people... to entertain. Don’t ever think that the people making the films are smarter than the people watching them. Be honest with your audience. Only do scenes you truly enjoy, because they can tell the difference. Value your fans. Let them guide you, and protect them. Don’t piss them off with 'pop-ups’ and blind 'upsells’ and by selling their information to every affiliate program on the web. Treat them with respect. Without your fans, you are nothing.

Q: What do you love most about the industry?

A: The people in it. The adult industry is home to some of the coolest, smartest people I’ve ever met. But at the same time, the thing I hate most about the industry is the people. ‘Porn’ is also home to some of the dumbest, closed minded, buffoons I’ve ever met too.

Q: What advice will you give to someone who is just starting out in the business?

A: Be a ‘Brand’ and be prepared to work hard to promote it. The business model of the adult industry is quickly changing to a ‘direct to consumer’ model. I believe it’s only a matter of years before we see the current system of ‘Performer to Studio to Distributor to Store to Consumer’ completely collapses.

As a new performer, you have to own your own brand and build your own fan base. There’s no one left to do it for you. Vivid has dropped all of their contract stars, and everyone predicts the rest of the industry will follow in short time.

You have to produce and own your own content. There is no way around that fact. Every scene you shoot for a paycheck is another chunk of your 'Brand’ that someone else owns. I have never worked as a performer for anyone but myself. If you want to see 'Marie Madison’ suck a dick, you gotta come to Marie Madison to see it. It’s been that way since my first scene, and I believe it’s the only reason I am still here almost 12 years later and still able to compete with the big Studios.

Q: What is your favorite sexual technique? (Feel free to give some tips to the fans)

A: Well, if you would ask people, they’ll tell you it’s ‘Blow Jobs’, but I think my favorite is actually ‘mouth fucking’ or ‘face fucking’. I’m a submissive by nature, so I enjoy it. I sort of pride myself in my ability to take some really hard ones.

Q: How do you prepare for a shoot?

A: Well, it really depends on what the shoot is. A lot of what I produce is scripted, so most times I spend my ‘prep time’ reading the script. As far as the sex scenes go, I don’t ‘fake’ anything and I rarely even block out the scene. In my scripts it’ll say “Rachel & Mark Bang it Out”. And they throw down on set however they want.

Q: How much money can we expect to make in the first year? (we = porn stars)

A: It will depend entirely on how unique you are and how hard you work. If you head into Porn Valley as a ‘Gonzo Girl’ you’ll make a few thousand dollars before the industry spits you back out. If you invest in yourself, it’s a real investment and it’s like any other business. You have to build it. You’ll have to spend a lot of time and a bit of money and the money coming in will be small and slow. But if you have a passion for it, there’s no better way to make a living than entertaining people.

Q: Any advice for man in the industry?

A: Always remember that the audience is looking at the girl. Make her look good and you’ll have a long career in the industry.

Q: What is the most pleasurable sex act you ever experienced? Best sex you ever had?

A: Oh my, yesterday. Haha. No kidding. That question is impossible for me to answer. I’ve had so many amazing experiences.

Q: Finally, what’s next in your career? (A book?, new movie?, New Website?)

A: I’m experimenting more with 3D. We’ll be producing a mainstream horror movie in 3D this summer called “Blood of Ohma” that I’ll be starring in next to ‘Hollywood’ actors Mark Cray and Larry Laverty. I’m working on a TV Series for our IPTV Channel http://www.maddygtv.com/ called “War Dogs” which is about underground MMA fights. There will also be another Season of “Regarding Jenny” for Cable TV. And there’s still a ton of idea’s and fantasies I haven’t worked out yet in my head. But there is always something going on here at ‘Maddy G’.
