The Full Moon - Short Blog

On February 18, 2011 the moon was at its fullest.

Some scientific studies suggest that you are more likely to be involved in a crime, or get fucked up beyond all recognition in a nasty accident of some sort.

What makes people go crazy around the time of a full moon?

Computer equipment failing?  A car won't start?

Or other legends such as:

Witches are said to ride during the time that the moon is full.   A werewolf in folklore and mythology is a person who shape-shifts into a wolf, with the appearance of the full moon. Two full Moons in the same month will cause severe weather in the following month. Women who stare at the full moon, or lay in the moonlight, will become pregnant. Some say she will give birth to a monster.  Some say that if a young girl holds a silk hankerchief to her face during a full moon, desiring to know when she will be married, the number of moons appearing, will indicate the number of years she will wait.

Some say if you  marry  during the Full Moon, you will have good luck and good fortune.  It is also said that if your children born on a full moon, they will be strong.  One of the weird medical superstitions is if you blow on a wart nine times while the Moon is full will make the wart go away.

The are others that say the bad luck part of a full moon is:  You will fail, if you try to commit robbery on the third day of a full moon. A full Moon on Christmas day brings misfortune.  All things weird in an of itself.

Now who knows for sure if the lunar cycle or its 'effect' even exists?

I have always thought myself that the full moon brings out the lunatics.

If you use it as an adjective:

- of or relating to the moon

Where do you think the term lunatic comes from?

Just a few things.....

Decided for yourself what your beliefs or theories are.
